The Family Vocational Institute for the Disabled (FAVID) is a registered non-government organization (NGO) which was established to take care of, love and give to the lives of physically challenged children in society. FAVID is located in Ijoko, Ogun State and aims to reach out and care for children who have been abandoned, rejected and tagged as ‘useless’ by their families and society.
Reverend Okon Usuyak, the founder/president of FAVID is determined, based on God’s instruction, to touch the lives of these special children in our midst – the blind, deaf and dumb; children with down syndrome; the physically and mentally challenged including those suffering from muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis; the orphaned; and the less privileged. Today FAVID provides accommodation and tutors for about twenty children and young adults. The FAVID make such an impact in the lives of these children, empowering them and giving them a sense of belonging, worth and independence.
During our recent visit to the facility, we were deeply moved and humbled by the dedication of Reverend Okon, his team and most importantly his family.
BNB is committed to doing all it can to support the work of FAVID and you can too.
For as little as N10,000 a month, you can sponsor a child in FAVID and make a difference in that child’s future. Your donation covers feeding, clothing, education and care for that child.
